PLEASURE WARNING: Starting smoking now significantly increases your feelings of pleasure.

I really really reallllyyy want to start. Need encouragement!

Hello. I think I'd absolutely love smoking. I'm just afraid that after I get addicted, I'll feel guilty about having cigarettes due to the health effects. I know I'll have more allergies and coughs then normal. What kind of health effects have you experienced? Thanks!

none after 30+ years

Speaking for myself it has been a good ride and I love smoking. Why get addicted. Just try smoking on your terms and see if you like it. I did but you may not like to smoke. Take it slow and follow the advice on this site to avoid problems. Good Luck.

Don't notice any problems most of the time

I mean I do cough a bit, especially first think in the morning, and I'm sure I must have more trouble working out and going up steep hills or a lot of steps than if I didn't smoke, but you don't really notice that. When I do notice real problems is if I get a cold or chest infection that's going round anyway - I can be laid pretty low for a week or more by illnesses that non-smokers throw off in a few days.......

I really really really want to start

I've been smoking 20 years, stopped for a while and started again last year. No health problems whatsoever and I love every single one.

none

Moderate smoking is OK like moderate eating. Just smoke when your body needs it and you will be fine. I have smoked 35 years and am active with no problems.

Find Your Brand

You'll love smoking once you've found your brand so you'll have to experiment a little. Most likely you'll become addicted and that's fine but you'll enjoy every cigarette. Pace yourself and decide how much you want to smoke and stay active. If you're concerned about health risks this will offset it. You'll be fine!

reply to reallllyyy want to start. Need encouragement

Just buy some and start. When I first wanted to smoke at age 10, I didn't care about health risks. I started at age 11. It was great, but I wish I started at a much younger age. I have been smoking for 39 years now with no coughing or anything. Cigarettes were made for me. I don't know how I ever did without them. Start smoking now, you'll love it. I am glad I started. I used to hate the damn things so much before I became interested in them. I love sucking on a cigarette and inhaling it. Very, very gratifying!

becoming a heavy smoker.

I'm 35 yrs old I played around with cigarettes for almost 1yr now.but I smoke like 1 or 2 cigs like ever 2 or 3 months..and now I want to know what is the best and fastest way to become a heavy addicted smoking to the point where my body needs it.so what is the best cigs and how should I smoke them to become a 2 pack a day smoker.any help anybody and what brand will do it

Smoke Menthol

One of the best ways to reach your goal is to get some menthol cigarettes and smoke at least 5 a day. With in a few weeks your body will be used to the nicotine and you will find that you need to smoke! Easy. I know the general opinion is to start with lights but I think a full flavour menthol is just as easy to smoke as a light even for a beginner. I would suggest Alpine, Kool, Newport, Salem, Saratoga Menthol and perhaps the Marl Smooths. I started on Alpine Filter (full flavour) and I was addicted by the end of the first pack.

Smoke more

Smoke more regularly. Set yourself a goal to smoke whenever you think about smoking or whenever you see a smoker lighting up. Get a couple of packs of cigarettes (Marlboro Reds are loaded with nicotine) and leave them around the house so that you remind yourself that you are a smoker and ALWAYS have a pack and a lighter with you at all times! Get a few ashtrays, you are going to need them. Smoke as soon as you wake up and then have another one about 20 minutes later, then smoke whenever you see someone else smoking or when you think about smoking, soon you will not be able to go more than an hour or two without a cigarette and when you eventually give in to the cravings, the relief is amazing!!! I am completely addicted to cigarettes and I cannot imagine not smoking. By the way I used to be very anti-smoking but once I had smoked a few I started enjoying them and by then it was too late to stop. I got hooked before I realised it and now I can't stop.

Really really want to start

Every poster so far is glad they started, does that tell you something about how great smoking is. Do try it for a week at 4 a day and see if you like it by the end of the week. Let us know day by day.

Just do it!

Just get yourself a pack and start. Go slow at first - follow prompting from your body. Then gradually increase - by 1 ciggie per day if you don't feel more craving, but light up one whenever craving sets in. I went from 7 per day to a ppd in less than a week by just reaching for one whenever I felt the slightest craving, and I realized that the more I smoked the more craving came!

Really really want to start

Have you tried smoking yet and how are you getting on? Keep the posts coming so we can help you enjoy it to the full.
