PLEASURE WARNING: Smoking is addictive; once you feel the pleasure you may never want to stop.

Farewell and final thoughts

I don't post here often, but I used to, and I don't think there has been a single day in the many years these forums have been open that I haven't visited the site.

I was planning a long complicated post telling about myself and expressing dismay that this forum will be coming to a close, but I'm not going to do that. For once I am going to keep this short and simple.

First, as many have already, I wanted to sincerely thank Pleasure Admin for keeping this forum open as long as he has, it was deeply appreciated.

I really wish the forum wasn't closing, but I understand why it is. It is nevertheless regrettable that this has come to pass.

I have advocated to keep the fetish forums alive, if I had known the fetish posts would have led the forum to closure, I would have gladly amputated that limb to save the forum's life.

I wish people felt that the importance of being honest on this forum was as sacred as I do, I don't understand why people enjoy pretending to be something they aren't and seem to get off on tricking other honest members. But this is why we are at the point that we are, and I have come to accept this for what it is.

The main reason that I have been here for as long as I have is that I really enjoy smoking and I agree with the fundamental aim of this website, to undermine the efforts of the antis and remind people that smoking is enjoyable and that is okay.

I haven't always agreed with some of the policies of this website, the most major being the prohibition of discussing underaged smoking. Almost all of us started before we were 18 years old, and almost none of us regret that fact. The fact that a person isn't 18 yet simply seems irrelevant, and since we almost universally start as teenagers, it seems that underaged smoking is an integral aspect of smoking, and there are legitimate issues that warrant discussion on the matter. Beyond that, I am quite certain that there are a lot of parents out there wrestling with their children's decision to smoke. But I will just say that I feel that minors should not be encouraged to smoke, merely accepted so long as they are a reasonable age to do so. I will remind readers that it isn't illegal for minors to smoke everywhere, for instance in NY, it is only illegal for minors to buy tobacco. But, I do appreciate that a discussion on this matter could lead to a legal tangle, so I understand the forum's position on the matter. By the way, this is merely my opinion and I am not looking to debate the issue.

Regardless of the things on this forum I didn't like, I have always been appreciative that a place to discuss our enjoyment of an increasingly taboo behavior exists. And this is why I have believed in this forum for so long, even if I haven't been the most active contributor.

I want to leave you with a few final thoughts:

No matter what happens politically, never forget that you enjoy smoking and that until smoking is illegal, it shouldn't be something we should be embarrassed about. Indeed, I wish more people would openly admit that they enjoy smoking.

Stand up for yourself and be vocal. Fight every tobacco tax hike like you are on a crusade. Oppose all new prohibitions on public smoking vigorously. Go to town meetings, write your legislators and remind them that you vote and will not stand for additional laws aimed at restricting places to smoke and making smoking oppressively expensive.

Remember that we have only lost our rights to smoke in public and we now pay so much because we smokers have allowed the antis to take so much from us over the years.

If we want smoking culture to endure we can't remain silent on the issues anymore.

With that, I am going to say goodbye, I will miss the community. I will always remember this community.

As an aside, it is unlikely that I will join you guys on the refuge forum, first because I don't want to become emotionally invested in another forum like this one. And I am worried that the same issues that have torn this site asunder, will probably rip the next forum apart as well.

Fondest farewells,
